| The data accessible through this page are intended to be used by Geographic
Information System (GIS) users. The GIS data are based on information used by NOAA
Fisheries to identify areas designated as critical habitat under the U.S. Endangered
Species Act for 7 Evolutionarily Significant Units (ESUs) of Pacific salmon and steelhead.
For exact legal descriptions of proposed critical habitat please consult the Federal Register
notice. The distribution data layers include information for both
occupied and unoccupied stream reaches, and a query of attribute values is necessary to
display occupied streams only. Please see metadata for more information.
All Shapefiles are in zip format. They will need to be downloaded to
your computer and unzipped to view.
An Interactive Mapper
website, hosted by CalFish in cooperation with
and as a courtesy to NOAA Fisheries, will allow viewing the Critical Habitat GIS data. The
website is intended to serve the public as a general navigation tool of the critical
habitat designation. Every attempt has been made to ensure the accuracy of the information
depicted, however these depictions DO NOT constitute a legal description of critical
habitat.
