The Office for Law Enforcement, Sacramento Field Office is responsible for enforcing the provisions of the Endangered Species Act (ESA) which pertain to California’s Central Valley salmon and steelhead Evolutionary Significant Units (ESUs). Our area of responsibility stretches from the Keswick dam, located near the City of Redding, to the Friant Dam, located 20 miles northeast of the City of Fresno. Our office is dedicated to the philosophy of Community Oriented Policing and Problem Solving (COPPS) to encourage voluntary compliance. However, in the event of an egregious ESA violation, this office is prepared to use the authority bestowed upon it to protect endangered and threatened salmon and steelhead.in the Central Valley region.
