Notice to Longline Fishermen

NOAA’s National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) announces that the 2006 longline fishery for bigeye tuna in the Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission Convention Area (area east of 150° W longitude) will be closed from July 6 through December 31, 2006.

NMFS is closing the U.S. longline fishery for bigeye tuna because the bigeye tuna catch in the Convention Area has reached the 150 metric ton limit for the year.
