Attendees: John Clancy, Shella Merritt, Marty Golden, Rosemary Troian and Tim Price Acting Chairperson John Clancy opened the meeting at 1:35p.m. Elections were held and John Clancy is now the Chairperson of the subcommittee and Rosemary Troian is the secretary. Troian has been active in the Public Outreach Committee (POC) and Marty will check with Craig Heberer to see if Troian can be a regular member of the committee. Speakers Bureau workplan: Troian will rewrite the plan for subcommittee review. The Region will be included in the revised plan, dates will be adjusted and status of the bullets (i.e. completed, in progress) will be listed. Troian will then circulate the revised plan to the subcommittee members for comments. Intern workplan: Price will help Clancy draft a memo to Dr. Tillman, seeking his support of the workplan. Clancy will describe the success of last years plan in Arcata. Price will talk to Rod McInnis to make sure the subcommittee has McInnis permission to implement the second year of the plan and obtain another intern. If we have McInnis approval, Price will send a memo to Region staff asking for intern proposals. David Starr Jordan Open House workplan The subcommittee is waiting to hear from Chris Moore, who will be the CO of the Jordan to see if an open house will be possible in March. In the meantime, Troian will talk to Sherri Charter to see what is involved in an open house. i.e. number of staff on the Jordan needed, number of students that can be accommodated, etc. Clancy will talk to Nancy Lo and Valerie Philbrick to get their ideas of the open house Guest Speakers workplan: The subcommittee is thinking about polling employees to see what kind of classes/training they would be interested in taking at work. Golden said that the Long Beach staff had someone from WASC talk to staff about safety and the talk was well received. Troian will talk to Ginny Hostler, HRD to get her opinion on what kind of classes might be available. The next subcommittee meeting will be Mon. Feb. 11 at 11:00am. Future subcommittee meetings will be held at 1:30p.m. on the Monday following full EEOAC meetings. |
