Al Coan called the meeting to order in the small conference room, Southwest Fisheries Science Center, La Jolla California at 9:00 AM. Patricia Mason participated via a conference call. The agenda (items I-II in this report) was approved and the subcommittee moved to discussions of the agenda items.

I. Workplan Progress Reports:

Awarding EEO Efforts Workplan

Al Coan noted that one award suggestion has been posted to date. Al has drafted a memorandum from the EEOAC committee to Michael Tillman asking him to consider an award for the posted suggestion. A copy of that memorandum is attached to these minutes for the EEOAC committee to review before the monthly EEOAC meeting. A couple of things to consider for discussion are; 1) who should the memorandum come from and 2) should we specify the award type and monetary amount. Also, some concern was expressed over whether the event took place to far in the past to be awarded.

Intern Workplan:

Nancy Lo reported that she has not heard from Tim on whether he presented the Internship program to the Regional Management Team. She also noted that the deadline for the letter to the Regional staff is January 15. Al agreed to bring these items up at the next EEOAC monthly meeting. Nancy also noted that she is revising the work plan to more accurately reflect changes that were suggested by the EEOAC committee.

Outreach Workplan

Debra Losey reported that she is still in the process of reviewing videos and internet sites and putting together lists that she will pass on to Rob Bistodeau for inclusion on the EEOAC website.

Al was reminded that John Clancy was to be on our subcommittee. Our apologies go out to John and he will be contacted to participate in the next meeting. Some items that John can assist us in are the Internship program, soliciting jpeg posters and teaching videos from Center and Region staff.

Al thanked everyone for participating. The next Programs Subcommittee meeting is tentatively scheduled for February 6, 2001, at 9:00 AM. The meeting closed at 9:40 AM.
