EEO Advisory Committee
Minutes: October 4, 2000 (DRAFT)
Chairman Tim Price called the meeting to order at 1:40 p.m.
Since a quorum was not present, Tim said that we would have an informal meeting. We eventually had 10 people participate in the call, but not all were on the call together.
Tim said that he spoke with Rebecca Lent, who is very supportive of the EEOAC. Rebecca has drafted a memo in support of the recommendation to reduce the size of the committee to 13 members. When Tim receives the memo, he will forward it to the committee.
Rebecca is also supportive of the intern program. Because of the SWC=s budget problems, Tim was requested to ask Rebecca if it is possible for the Region to fund an intern at the Center.
Tim will forward the EEOAC Webpage URL to Rebecca for her approval.
Nancy Lo reported on the Programs subcommittee meeting. She previously had distributed. the minutes of this meeting to the committee on e-mail.
Beth Norton reported on the Personnel subcommittee. She has been working on the recruitment data base by requesting names of professional contacts from the Santa Cruz Laboratory personnel and acknowledged Mary Yoklavichs help in response to her request. Beth will also use the data base of invitees to the Santa Cruz Laboratory dedication. A new section has been added to the data base after a search of the web produced a number scientific sites where NMFS vacancies can be listed for free.
Tim encouraged the committee members to re-read all the work plans to see which are still relevant.
The meeting was adjourned at 2:10pm.
All information in the web page was approved
