EEO Advisory Committee Chairman Tim Price called the meeting to order at 1:15 p.m. after a quorum was achieved. The Minutes for the meetings of April 5 and May 3, 2000 were approved. Chair Report Tim Price reported that five regional employees have expressed an interest to participate on the EEOAC committee. Before finalizing the appointments to fill the three vacancies, Rod McInnis, in consultation with Mike Tillman, should respond to the EEO advisory committees recommendation to reduce the size of the committee to 13 members. Tim Price also reported that the Southwest Regional Office, Protected Resources Division, hired a student intern from a minority institution, California State University of Long Beach, to enter marine mammal stranding and rehabilitation forms into the regional stranding network database. Subcommittee Reports The Program Subcommittee met on May 10, 2000. Al Coan summarized their progress and the establishment of Coordinators for each workplan. The Program Subcommittee suggested that a suggestion box be placed on the EEOAC web site for award recommendations. Also, the subject of whether Headquarters should fund regional workplans was discussed. Carolyn Stiles stated there is no funding from Headquarters available to fund regional workplans. The Administrative Subcommittee reported they are continuing to maintain the EEO advisory committees Web site. Changes and updates have been made and the web site is ready to announce. There were no reports from the Policy and Personnel Subcommittees. Workplan Implementation Al Coan volunteered to draft an e-mail to regional employees requesting volunteers to participate on the panel for the high school internship program. Rob Bistodeau volunteered to draft the notice for announcing the EEO advisory committees web page. The Committee will approve the announcement prior to being sent. The web page will be accessible to the public. Dick Butler proposed that at the next meeting, the EEOAC review the Policy Subcommittees role and focus. Carolyn Stiles proposed the Policy subcommittee become more involved in public outreach programs. The date for the next meeting was set for July 5. The meeting adjourned at 2:15pm. |
