Chairperson Tim Price called the meeting to order at 1:30 p.m. Tim explained that the purpose of the EEOAC was to enhance Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and Affirmative Employment Program (AEP) communication between employees and management and serve in an advisory capacity on employee concerns regarding the EEO/AEP. Tim welcomed the new members to the committee and each committee member introduced themselves, and gave their location, division, job duties and their interest in the EEOAC. The December, 2001 minutes were approved as written. Under Officers Reports, Tim reported that he had drafted a memo to Dr. Tillman and Rod McInnis with the committees suggestion for committee makeup for FY2002. Tim also spoke to and 8th grade student who is interested in a career in marine science. A middle school teacher has contacted Tim about possible outreach activities. Nancy Lo, outgoing Vice Chairperson, said she is willing to meet with the new Vice Chairperson to help with the transition process. Tim encouraged the subcommittees to meet in the next couple of weeks before the February main meeting. Under old business, Nancy Lo suggested that Tim write a letter to Rod McInnis and Mike Tillman, asking them to implement the intern program again. The program subcommittee will look at all the work plans from the past and decide on how they can be implemented. The next meeting will be held on Feb. 6, 2002 at 1:30.
