Minutes: August 2, 2000

Chairman Tim Price called the meeting to order at 1:10 p.m.

The Minutes for the meeting of July 5, 2000 were approved.

Tim said that he spoke with Rod McInnis again about reducing the size of the committee.. Dr. Tillman has been on extended travel and Rod is still waiting to discuss this issue with Mike.

Rod told Tim that the committee should set up the internship program starting in FY01.

Rod will send a letter to the supervisors and team leaders at the Region asking them who would like to have an intern. A committee was established to pick an intern from among the applicants: Nancy Lo, Beth Norton, Rosemary Troian and Tim Price. The future supervisor of the intern will also be on the committee.

Al Coan reported that the Program subcommittee will meet in mid-August.

Personnel subcommittee:

Beth Norton said that she had continued to add to a database of professors in an effort to expand the possible sources for reaching, informing, and recruiting under-represented groups for the SWR workforce.

The Policy and Administrative subcommittees did not meet.

Old Business:

Rob Bistodeau reported that he had made some requested changes to the Web page. The appropriateness of posting EEO reports on the Website was questioned and the reports were subsequently removed. Rob posted an Interactive EEO awards feature. The page is to go to Rod and Mike for approval suggesting that they approve the page so that it can be released on Sept. 1.

Debbie Losey determined that NOAA rulers are available at no cost and she will order a supply of 200 to be given out at schools.

Because Tim has a conflict on Sept. 6, the next meeting will be Wed. Sept. 13 at 1:30.
