OPPORTUNITY ADVISORY COMMITTEE
MEETING MINUTES
November 2, 2005
Attendees: Jessica Kondel, Nancy Fisher, Jeff McLain, Rod Miller, Rick Rogers, and
Advisors Maria Harris and Rosemary Trojan.
Call to Order was at 1:05 p.m.
There were not enough members in attendance for a quorum, so October’s minutes were
not approved.
Officer’s Reports: There was nothing to report.
Subcommittee Reports:
- Program: No meeting was held in October.
- Administrative: The next meeting is scheduled for
November 17th at 10:00 a.m.
- Personnel: No meeting was held in October. The next
meeting is scheduled for November 17th at 1:00 p.m.
Old Business:
- Draft Guidelines for Interview Questions (Personnel Sub.):
Jessica informed the group that the interviewers throughout the region responded to Jeremy
with comments/questions. The committee discussed these and Nancy will address each one
while updating the questionnaire. The next step will be to send the staff that had
questions or comments the updated version to see if they are satisfied with the
amendments. If so, the updated questionnaire will be presented to the group for review.
Upon approval by the group, as a final step, the questionnaire will be presented to Rod
McInnis and Bill Fox for signature approval and completion of the work plan.
- Listserver Status Update (Personnel Sub.): Jeff
updated the group on his efforts and progress to produce automated job search e-mails from
Quick Hire. He said that one method of getting job announcements out is to search Quick
Hire and copy and paste the announcements into an e-mail. The e-mail looks nice but the
links don’t work, so he is working on that. If this can be worked out, the idea is to
do this search and send e-mail announcements on a regular basis.
- Draft Work Plan: IDP Training Follow-up (Program Sub.):
The Program Subcommittee is in the process of revising the work plan.
New Business:
- Draft Intern Work Plan (Norton and Troian): Jerry is
working on this and there are supervisors that are interested in getting interns into
their offices.
- Recruitment of New Members: Several committee
members’ terms are up at the end of the year, so we need to recruit new members.
Jeremy and Jessica will contact Rod and Bill Fox about sending out messages to recruit new
volunteers.
Rosemary Trojan will be rejoining the committee on 1/1/06, and has volunteered to replace
Nancy as Secretary. Elections for new officers will take place early in 2006.
Announcements: None.
