Southwest Region

Minutes: October 1, 2003

Attendance: Tim Price, Rosalie del Rosario, Maura Eagan Moody, Rosemary Troian, Rick Wantuck, Pat Erdenberger, Carlos Garza, Marty Golden. Maria Harris attended as an advisor. Absent: Eleanor Domalaog, Tod Buchholz, Lewis Van Fossen, Jessica Kondel.

Chairman Tim Price called the meeting to order at 1:05 p.m.

Officer reports:

Chairman's report:

Tim introduced Pat Erdenberger, who is a new member of the committee. Jessica Kondel is also a new member, but she was not in attendance. We now have 11 members on the committee.

Tim said that the SW Regional Board approved going ahead with training on the IDPs.

Tim reported that two members of the committee will be receiving Bronze medals: Marty Golden for his SFA facilitator efforts and Rosemary Troian for her outreach work.

Maria Harris complete a report on the number of disabled people working for the Southwest Region. Similar reports have to be done on Hispanics which are employed. (And what other groups?)

Administrative SubCommittee:

No report. Ani Au is now working for the Pacific Islands Region. Our EEOAC will be getting members for the Admin. Sub Committee.

Program SubCommittee:

The Individual Development Planning process was discussed under old business.

Personnel SubCommittee:

Rosalie reported that Maura, Todd and John sent out all their listserver letters. Maria entered all her addresses and also Rosemary Troian's. Some others are still working on their assignments. Return addresses on the envelopes are Long Beach and about 150 envelopes have come back because of outdated addresses.

Old Business:

The Program Committee if finalizing the IDP training documents. Marty has developed a Power Pt. show. On Monday, Oct. 6 at 2:00, anyone is welcome to join the Program Committee to help finish these documents and look at the calendar to pick training dates. The training, when held, should be mandatory and will be some live events with teleconference connections.

Announcements:

Tim announced that Craig Heberer was one of 20 applicants chosen out of a pool of 100 picked to go to D.C. and receive training on recruiting new employees, especially from minority-serving institutions. People may contact Craig directly, if they have questions.

Next Meeting:

The next meeting will be on Nov. 5 at 1:00 p.m.

The meeting was adjourned at 2:10 p.m.
