EEO Advisory Committee Minutes

Southwest Region

Minutes: May 5, 2004

Members present: Nancy Fisher, Carlos Garza, Stephanie Johnson, Jessica Kondel, Tim Price, Jeremy Rusin, Rosemary Troian, Rick Wantuck. Advisors present: Maria Harris, Stephanie Hall. Members absent: Brian Cluer, Eleanor Domalaog, Laura Tezer

Chairman Tim Price opened the meeting at 1:00p.m. and thanked Jeremy Rusin for convening the April meeting while he was attending the Pacific Fishery Management Council meeting.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:

The minutes of the April meeting were approved.

OFFICERS' REPORTS

Chair: Tim Price reported that Take Our Children to Work Day was a big success at both the Region and the Center and he thanked those involved.

Todd Buccholz transferred to the Forest Service. Rick Rogers was nominated by the Arcata Area Office Supervisor to replace him on the EEOAC.

SUBCOMMITTEE REPORTS

Program: Individual Development Plan training was announced for May 6 at the Southwest Fisheries Science Center. Marty Golden, Tim Price and Maria Harris will travel to La Jolla to give the training. The training for the Region will be held on May 19.

The members of the Program subcommittee (Rosemary Troian, Laura Tezer, Brian Cluer and Rick Wantuck) need to schedule a meeting soon.

Administration: The administration subcommittee was unable to meet..

Personnel: The personnel subcommittee did not meet.

Old Business: The awareness posters which are distributed no longer are printed with a year and can be used from year to year. The posters come in three sizes: 24" x 36", 13.5" x 20", and 11" x 17". We can request what size poster that is shipped and purchase a frame to accommodate its size.

New Business: The committee would like to amend the bylaws to change the name of the committee from SWR EEOAC to SW EEOAC. Tim will send a memo to Rod McInnis and Bill Fox to obtain their approval.

Brian Cluer suggested that the SW EEOAC investigate obtaining TSP "green funds".

Rosemary Troian and Sherri Charter (SWFSC) are still trying to arrange a tour on the David Starr Jordan. The last word from the ship is that an open house may be possible in December.

The new outreach coordinator for the SWR is going to be Ensign Sarah Dunsford.

Discussed sending out EEOAC awareness emails to region and center employees to remind everyone about the EEOAC.

Our next meeting will be June 2 at 1:00p.m. Members should continue to hold the first Wed. of each month free so they can attend the meetings.

The meeting was adjourned at 2:00 p.m.
