EEO Advisory Committee Southwest Region Minutes: March 3, 2004 Attendees: Tim Price, Jessica Kondel, Stephanie Johnson, Nancy Fisher, Jeremy Rusin, Elanor Domalaog. Maria Harris (advisor) was also present. Absent: Carlos Garza, Laura Tezer, Brian Cluer, Rosemary Troian, Rick Wantuck Chairman Tim Price called the meeting to order at 1:11 p.m. Since the committee lost a member from the Arcata office we currently have eleven people serving on the EEOAC. The six people present constituted a quorum and the meeting resumed. APPROVAL OF JANUARY MINUTES Nancy moved to approve January meeting minutes. The motion was seconded by Jessica and carried. OFFICER'S REPORTS EEOAC Chairman's report: A letter of recognition and appreciation signed by Rod McInnis will be sent to departing EEOAC member: Rosalie del Rosario, Maura Moody and Marty Golden. The list server is running with a few glitches. Tim is working with HR at WASC to get server problems solved. Currently, some recruitment announcements are not going to the list server. Please let Tim know if you notice any recruitments the list server doesn't receive. SUBCOMMITTEE REPORTS Program: Rosemary Troian is serving as chair. Other members of the subcommittee include Laura Tezer, Brian Cluer and Rick Wantuck. No committee members were present, no report. Administrative: Jessica Kondel nominated as committee chair. Other subcommittee members include Jeremy Rusin and Stephanie Johnson. The committee will plan a meeting for this month to discuss the EEOAC website. Members of EEOAC are asked to forward any suggestions/comments concerning the website to the Administrative Subcommittee. Personnel: Eleanor Domalaog is serving as the interim committee chair. Other members include Carlos Garza and Nancy Fisher. The Personnel Subcommittee didn't meet in February. The committee has scheduled their monthly meeting on the second Wednesday of each month at 9:00 a.m. However, a special date of April 15, 2004 at 9:00 a.m. was set for the next meeting to accommodate the subcommittee members' schedules. The committee will be working to complete the list server mailing. OLD BUSINESS IDP Training Schedule *High Priority*: Tim and Marty are working on setting a date(s) for the Region and Center training. Original intentions to have training in February didn't work because of scheduling conflicts. Tim is trying to schedule the training for the end of March. The Region will be the first training followed by the Center. Marty has drafted an email on the training to be reviewed and sent out Rod McInnis. More information will be available on the EEOAC website. Regional and Center employees are encouraged to attend the training. EEO Posters: Each office should be receiving posters. The posters should be posted in a common area of the office. There will not be a poster for every month. List Server: List Server updates should be forwarded to Nancy and not Rosalie. An auto email is sent out to every list server subscriber when a there is a vacancy in the SW Center and Region. Only the list server administrator can access the list server database. It is a possibility that supervisors will have access to database in the future in order make recruitment announcements more selective. NEW BUSINESS NOAA EEO Newsletter Natalie Huff has requested a report on diversity news updates from the Southwest EEOAC on a bi-monthly basis for the new NOAA EEO Newsletter. This newsletter is separate from the NOAA Fisheries EEO Newsletter. Maria will use quarterly EEO reports from office/laboratory administrators as a reference for the report Natalie is requesting. Some members of the Southwest EEOAC expressed interest in being copied on the quarterly reports from the administrators. Maria will be in contact with Stephanie Hall at La Jolla about the EEOAC existence and the quarterly reports. Program Committee: Tim will contact program sub-committee members to have them set up a meeting time. EEOAC name change: At the next meeting we will discuss renaming the EEOAC. Suggestions are Southwest EEOAC, SWEEOAC or Southwest Region EEOAC, SWREEOAC. Next Meeting: Our next meeting will be April 7 at 1:00 p.m. Members should continue to hold the first Wednesday of each month free so they can attend the meetings. Meeting adjourned at 2:10 p.m. |
