  • Council to Adopt Range of Options for 2012 Ocean Salmon Fisheries and 2012-2013 Pacific Whiting Fishery Management Measures

    The Pacific Fishery Management Council (Council) and its advisory bodies will meet February 29-March 7, 2012 in Sacramento, California to address issues related to salmon, Pacific halibut, groundfish, coastal pelagic species, highly migratory species, and habitat matters.

  • Notice of Availability and Document Order Form - The Pacific Fishery Management Council (Council) is announcing the dates of availability for its annual preseason planning documents for ocean salmon fisheries. The reports will be posted electronically on the Council’s website, or you may request hard copies or CD-ROM copies of the reports by filling out and submitting the  following form:  http://www.pcouncil.org/salmon/order-form-salmon-management-documents/

    The scheduled availability for the salmon preseason management documents are as follows:
    • Review of 2011 Ocean Salmon Fisheries
      Available February 10
    • Preseason Report I - Stock Abundance Analysis and Environmental Assessment Part 1 for 2012 Ocean Salmon Fisheries
      Available March 1
    • Preseason Report II - Proposed Alternatives and Environmental Assessment Part 2 for 2012 Ocean Salmon Fisheries
      Available March 20
    • Preseason Report III - Analysis of Council-Adopted Management Measures for 2012 Ocean Salmon Fisheries
      Available April 17

  • Request for Nominations for an At-Large Position on the Scientific and Statistical Committee - The Pacific Fishery Management Council (Council) is seeking qualified candidates to consider for an at-large position on its Scientific and Statistical Committee (SSC). The successful candidate will serve out the remainder of the 2010-2012 Council advisory body term. Please see the Council’s Advisory Body Vacancies webpage for all the specifics. The deadline to submit nominations is February 8, 2012.

  • Reminder:  Request for Nominations - The Pacific Fishery Management Council (Council) is seeking a qualified candidate to serve on its Coastal Pelagic Species Advisory Subpanel (CPSAS) to represent the conservation community. The CPSAS consists of 10 members representing various commercial, recreational, and conservation stakeholders in the coastal pelagic fisheries along the west coast. The Council’s Coastal Pelagic Species Fishery Management Plan includes management of anchovy, Pacific sardines, Pacific mackerel, jack mackerel, market squid, krill, Pacific herring, and jacksmelt. Please see the Council’s Advisory Body Vacancies webpage for all the specifics. The deadline to submit nominations is February 6, 2012.
